Merry & Bright

I can't believe Christmas will be here in another 18 days' time!  Time flies... where did all the other months went?

Are you all ready for the festive celebrations and feasting?  And have you been busy making Christmas cards?

I have another Christmas card to share with you today.

And before I forget, Purple Onion Designs stamps are still on sale, 25% off all stamps till 7 December so you still have time to hop over and pick up some of the stamps you are eyeing on before the sales is over!  Hurry hurry!

I just love how versatile and cute that Mistletoe and Snowball are!  You can simply just create tags and cards on their own or match them up with any other stamps that you have.

All the images are coloured with Copic markers.  There's not much of a traditional Christmas~y colours in this card and the background is blended with a dark tone of distress ink Hickory Smoke.  As for the background of Snow Fort, I blended Milled Lavender for a contrast look.

To give the snow fall background a more 3 dimensional feel, I used Ranger enamel accents in white with a fine tip applicator.  I love how the enamel drops look after they are all dried up and it's just so much fun and easy to create different sizes of snow fall with the fine tip applicator

The sentiments Merry & Bright is a SVG cut file that I used my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine to cut it out.

I hope you like the card that I've shared today!  If you need more inspirations on Purple Onion Designs stamps, please head over to the website and check out the Design Team's wonder creations, I'm sure you will be greatly inspired!

Have a wonderful day!

Are You Ready For Holiday Sale?

Did you missed getting the new Winter collection Snow Day, during the recent launch?  If yes, fret not!  You can get them this time round, along with any other Purple Onion Design stamps that you have been eyeing on!

The sales will end on 7 December so make your choices quickly before your favourite stamps go out of stock.

And here is a special card I've made sometime back using Forrest and Meadow from last winter collection, Snowflake Grove.

For the background, I blended some distress ink in Faded Jeans and Crack Pistachio with the blending tool to get a smooth colour.  To get a nice gradual dark to light effect, I went a little heavy handed on Faded Jeans just on  the top of the white water colour cardstock.

The birch trees is a cut file from the Silhouette Design Store called Birch Love Forest by Sophia Gallo (Design ID# 74354).  There's plenty of birch tree dies that you can use too if you do not have a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine.

Just in case you wonder where is the stamp for the tree stump that Forrest was standing on come from?  It's actually from Flora (owl on tree stump)!  I've replaced Flora with Forrest! (Sorry Flora!)

And here is what happens when you give a gentle press on the "Noel" tab on the card.  Yes, Forrest's lamp lights up with Chibitronics Chibi lights circuit stickers!

Here is a close up .

I went out of my comfort zone to add on a little 'electronic' element for this card.  I'm usually very frightful of handling anything that's got to do wires, circuits and stuff.  And after watching numerous YouTube videos on how to use Chibitronics I managed to make it work on my second attempt!

If you have been toying with the idea of adding these little Chibi lights to your paper projects, I urge you to give it a try!  Just search on the YouTube and there's plenty of tutorial on Chibitronics Chibi circuit lights :)

I'll be sharing another new project very soon so please do swing by my blog again if you wish to see my next project using Purple Onion Design stamps!  Don't forget to check out the Design Team's works for loads of inspiration!

Happy crafting!

Be Merry Be Jolly ~ Falalalalala!

Have you check out the new collection of stamps already?  Be sure to do so if you haven't!  Snow Day has all the adorable images you need for this Christmas season!

The complete set of Snow Day collection is currently on sale for USD90.00 till 10 November, so do take this opportunity to make the purchase as it will save you 30% from the usual price.

Sharing with you today, is a tri-fold card I made using 5 images from the Snow Day collection.  This is my first tri-fold card!

This is the front view of the tri-fold card.  The "story" unravel when the card is opened!

Stamps used: Dash (penguin on sled), Hope (bunny sledding), Jingle (penguin sliding), Flurry (snowman with gift), Snow Day! Hill (background)

For a change, I used Zig Clean Colour real brushes to colour the Dash, Hope, Jingle and Flurry.  And for the background stamp of Snow Day! Hill, it's just a light brush of watercolours from my usual watercolour palette.

The background of Snow Day! Hill is just perfect scene for Hope Jingle and Dash!  And to give the card a little "narrative' feel, I added the sentiments from Winter Wishes and Snow Flake Grove.

The background stamping was a little tricky as I need to align the hills to make it look more like a whole scene and connected, so I used Inkadinkado Stamp-A-Ma-Jig Stamp Positioner to try my best to align the lines of the hills.  All images are stamped with Archival inkpad in Jet Black.

I hope you like what I've shared today!  Please do check out more lovely creations from the Design Team at Purple Onion Designs today and be totally inspired by all the creative works!

Have a great weekend!

Snow Day!

I have great news to share and I can't wait!

The new winter /holiday collection from Stacey Yacula ~ Snow Day, is now available!

From now till 10 November the complete collection of Snow Day (22 stamps altogether) will be on a sale price of USD90.00 and that's a whopping savings of more than 30%!

To celebrate the release of the new collection, I'm sharing with you a new card I made using 4 stamps from the Snow Day!

Celebrate the Season!

Stamps used : Rupert (Fox with Snowball), Wilson (Bear with Snowball), Snow Fort, Snowballs

The sentiment ~ Celebrate the Season! is from the previous collection, Winter Wishes Sentiments set.

I have used Copic markers for Rupert, Wilson and Snowballs.  The background with Snow Fort scene was finished off with a light wash of watercolours.

For this card, I tried to keep the colours light and Christmas~y.  It was real fun and joy to colour all the new images, especially Rupert!  I had a lot of fun blending the orange tones to his fur.

I hope you like the card that I've shared today!  In fact this is the first Christmas card I made for this year!  More to come, I promise!

Please do check all the super adorable images from the new collection Snow Day from Purple Onion Designs website and blog for more inspiration and awesome creations from the Design Team.

I'll be sharing a couple of new cards using stamps from Snow Day the next few days so please do swing by if you like what to see more!

Stay calm and make more cards!

Midnight Halloween

Time flies and with a blink of an eye we are already in the month of October!  I wonder where did all the previous months went to?!  Another two more months and we'll be going into 2017!

What do we have in October?  Oh yes, Halloween!  I have seen a couple of departmental stores putting up Halloween decorations and selling them in a small corner of the store.

Though Halloween is not widely celebrated in Singapore, the younger generations, mainly teenagers and kids would still dress up in "guising" costumes going around neighbourhoods for "trick or treat" fun.  Local theme parks like Universal Studio Singapore would run special horror Halloween Nights for those who dare to put their courage to the test!  Definitely not for the faint-hearted like me!

How would I celebrate Halloween?  Well, I will get the candies ready and wait for the kids to come knocking on my door on 31 October!  Meanwhile I will make Halloween cards!

Here is a shaker card I made using Midnight (the Halloween kitten) from Purple Onion Designs.

What I really love about making shaker cards is choosing the colours of sequins and other items to be placed in the shaker pocket.  It's absolutely fun!

I stamped Midnight in my favourite Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and used the PixScan function of my Silhouette Cameo to have the image cut out.  I really like the PixScan function as it saves me lots of time to fussy cut the image using scissors!

The frames of this shaker card, including the word "Halloween" is a cut file from Silhouette Design Store.  I like how the frames, word and Midnight work out to be.

I hope you like the card that I've shared today.  It's 3 more weeks to Halloween!  I'll probably make another one or two Halloween themed projects in the coming weeks so please check back if you are a fan of Halloween related stuff!

Stay cool and craft on!

Birthday Wishes From Blueberry

Sorry for the lack of post in the month of August, I was busy preparing for my ABRSM Grade 6 violin practical exam!

Yes, other than dabbling in different crafts during my free time, I play the violin too!  Not very good though, but I managed to pass all my practical exams so far!  I hope I've done enough to pass for my Grade 6!

Now that I've done with the exam and waiting for the result that will be out in 3 weeks' time, I can resume all the card making and paper crafting fun that I've put off for the past weeks!

To start off, let me share a birthday shaker card that I've just made using Purple Onion Designs stamp!  Here is Birthday Wishes from Blueberry.

Stamps used: Balloon, Blueberry, Party Hat and Kite.

I love making shaker cards, especially when choosing the colourful sequins and beads for the shaker pocket!  With the WRMK fuse tool, making the shaker window or rather the shaker pocket, is a much easier task and less bulky too.

Blueberry is really a very cute bear!  He's all ready to have fun donning the red party hat "holding" onto the purple balloon!

All the images are coloured using Copic markers and I've added glossy accent to the balloon to give it the extra "shine".  I'm not sure if you can see it from the pictures, but I really like how it turned out!

I hope you like the birthday shaker card I shared today!  Please check back again soon as I'll be sharing another shaker card in a couple of days' time!

Happy crafting!

For You

Happy Friday!  Are you looking forward to the weekend?  I am!  It's going to be a fun-packed one for us. My 10 year old has 2 football matches lined up on Sunday and we are looking forward to it!

Today, I'm sharing with you a 3D gift box with easel that I've created with my Silhouette Cameo, decorated with one of my favorite Purple Onion Designs stamp.

On the easel, I stamped Summer Girl with my favourite Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and coloured her with Copic markers.  I blended the background with distress ink Spun Sugar and added the sentiment "For You" on a floral die cut.  Little flowers are added just to give it a more sweet feminie touch (:  It's hard not to love Summer Girl, she's smiley, sweet and always so welcoming with open arms!

In the gift box comes a little surprise!  A set of dainty earring on a earring holder randomly stamped with a heart wreath image from the Garden Set.  Look how versatile the stamps can be!  Stamps can be used on just many type of products and on many occassions!

I hope you like what I've shared today.  The anniversary sale at the Purple Onion Designs will be ending in 2 days' time so if you have not check out your shopping cart you better hurry!  Sale ends at 31 July!

Happy shopping and have a great weekend!

You Are So Wonderful

Happy Saturday!

Have you check out the Anniversary Sale at Purple Onion Designs already?  Be sure to take a look at the "sale" category as I have spotted a couple of versatile stamps that can be used on card for almost every occassion!

For today, I am going to share another card that I've created a couple of days back.  I'm dedicating this card to my wonderful husband for all that he has done for me and my son.  I want to thank him for giving me the privilege of being a stay-at-home-mom and letting me having the luxury of spending my time doing the things I love most!  Thank you so much <3

All these cute critters images were stamped using my favourite Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and coloured with Copic markers.  For this time round, I didn't use my Silhouette Cameo Pix Scan function to cut the images but I fussy cut them with my pair of EK tools Precision Scissors.

For the base card, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad in cracked pistachio and with the blending tool, I gave it a soft gradient of green.

As for the sentiment, I stamped it with Versamark embossing ink, sprinkled some white embossing powder over and heat set it.

To make the card a little more fun, I added a sweet ribbon banner from Memory Box banner parade die set.

I hope you like what I've shared today.  Please do visit Purple Onion Designs for more inspirations and take a look at the very pretty and amazing projects from the DT.

Have a great weekend and happy crafting!

There's A Sale!

Sorry for the absence for June!  It's been a crazy month because it's the June school holidays and most of the free time I had, had to go to the 10 year old who's always on the move!

July has been a busy month too!  I've tried out glass etching which I wanted to, for the longest time, and I succeeded!  I'll share the pictures of the etched mug maybe next week.

For now I have good news!

Yes!  Purple Onion Designs anniversary sale is now on till 31 July and all stamps are 25% off!  There's even some real great deals in the "sales" category with another additional 25% off from the already discounted price!  Yes you heard it right.  So don't wait too long as the quantities in the "sales" category is limited.

Head over to Purple Onion Designs site and take a look at all the amazing projects that the DT team has put up.

And for today, I'm going to share with you a project that I've just completed yesterday.

Here is a birthday card I've created using Rayne (the summer boy), Elm, and little packages

Using my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine, I cut a herringbone pattern background to give it a interesting look rather than just a coloured base card.

At the back of the pattern background, I did a distress colour blending base card just to give it a hint of light colours.  All images are coloured with Copic markers.

I hope you like what I've shared today.  Now don't forget to check out the Purple Onion Designs store and take a look at all the lovely stamps!

More cards to share on tomorrow's post so be sure to check back!  And just in case you don't, here's me wishing you a great weekend!  Stay calm and keep shopping!

Wish You Were Here

Yay!  It's Friday!

Are you looking forward to the weekend?  I am!  It's going to be a very busy one for me as it's the beginning of the mid year school holiday for my 10 year old, there will be the usual enrichment lessons and I have to try to organise play dates and other activities to keep him busy!

Today, I'll be sharing another card I made using the new Garden Blooms collection from Purple Onion Designs by Stacey Yacula.  To show the versatility of the collection, I used some of the new stamps with one of my favourite from the existing stamps that I have.

And here it is.

Wish You Were Here!

What I loved about the Garden Blooms collection is that there are many background stamps that allows you to create different themes and different scenarios for the cards.

For this card, I stamped the images with Ranger Archival ink pad with the colour Jet Black on Strathmore Watercolour paper and coloured the images with my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers. For the soft colours for the background, I diluted my watercolours with quite a bit water and delicately I brush it across to give it a light tint of colours.

I always feel that a card is never complete without adding some sentiments to it.  And with the sentiment "Wish You Were Here" from Sweet Summer sentiment set just makes it perfect.  Chloe misses her friends while enjoying the summer breeze in the garden and she's keeping the flower in her hand just for her favourite pal!

I hope you like the card that I've shared today.  The whole Garden Blooms collection will be available for a discounted price of USD90.00 till 30 May so remember to head over to Purple Onion Designs and take a look.

That's all for now.  Wishing all a great weekend!  Happy colouring!

Elliot Says Thank You

Have you check out the new Garden Blooms collection?  If not, please head over to Purple Onion Designs blog and website now to take a look a the adorable set!  The entire collection is now available for USD90.00 till 30 May, don't wait too long if you are thinking of getting the stamps!

As promised in the last post to share more of my cards using stamps from the new collection, here is a Thank You card I made using Elliot, from the new Garden Blooms collection, together with the banner from the sweet offerings set from my existing collection of stamps from Purple Onion Designs.

Elliot is such an adorable image and I really find it easy to adapt to any other stamps that I have.

Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig from EK Tools, I positioned and stamped the image the Elliot right on top of the banner and used my Copic markers to colour the whole image.  Then I fussy cut the whole image.

I die cut the stitched circle and blended in some distress colour, Tumbled Glass, to give it a a gradient of light blue.

As the card hasn't got much of stamped images, I decided to add a some other details to give it a more interesting look.  The die cut little stitched leaves are from a leaves die cut set from Lawn Fawn.  I coloured them with my Copic markers and attached them to the some twine to be attached to the card.

That's all for today, I hope you like this Thank You card that I've shared with you today.  Have a great weekend and keep on stampin'!

Happy news to share!

There are 34 new images within a total of 25 stamps/sets.  And if have not visited Purple Onion Designs blog or Stacey Yacula's page previously, here is the sneak peek of Petal and Milly at the garden!  How adorable!

I've always loved Stacey Yacula's stamps collection and I'm very fortunate to be able to create a few new cards for this new collection.  The critters images in this new collection are totally adorable (just like all the critters in all her collections!) and they are very versatile to be incorporated in the past collections to create new cards/tags/projects.

And to celebrate the new release of the stamp set, I share with you a card that I've create using 2 of the images from the Garden Blooms.

Here is Riley Sending Sun~filled wishes.

I really had a fun time colouring the Veggie Garden and having Riley to hold the shovel having a fun time waiting for harvest in the garden!

To add more fun to the card, I've used some die cuts from Sizzix Triplits Die Set 13PK - Hello Sunshine.

The finishing touch ~  the cute watering can from Garden Set No.1.  I really love the watering can!

If you haven't notice, the sentiment is from the past collection ~ Sweet Summer sentiment set.  Like we have mentioned earlier, Garden Blooms is a versatile stamp set that you can use it for almost all occasions!

For the next few days, I'll be sharing other new cards and projects that I've created using Garden Blooms. Be sure to check back (:  Meanwhile I hope you will be inspired with the cards/projects by the rest of the members of the Design Team at Purple Onion Designs!

Stay calm and keep stamping!

Sunday 24 January 2016

So sorry

Sorry for the long absence!

The holiday seasons were quite hectic for me as we had to travel to two countries in December and then my son was down with a bad flu right after our trip from Gold Coast Australia.  And after he got better, it was my turn to be down.

I stopped crafting right after Christmas as my hubby and I had made plans to relocate my crafting area and reshuffle our rooms.  And now I've got a bigger, tidier and prettier crafting table and space!

As I promised to share the Christmas cards and projects I've made, in my earlier post (sorry I know Christmas is way over!) well, it's better to be late than never.  So here they are!

If you have notice, all the above projects were made with Purple Onion Designs stamps, particularly from Stacey Yacula's collection, I simply love her illustrations! And I was so happy when Purple Onion Designs approached me and gave me the opportunity to join the Christmas design team!  It's such a bonus and an honor to be able to use the new collection of Snowflake Grove stamps on top of the existing stamps to create cards, project and ornaments for Christmas!

I really had a fun time creating projects and cards with all the stamps from Purple Onion Designs and it really made my Christmas a little more special!

Hope you had a fun-filled holiday as I did! (minus the flu episode!) Please do check back soon as I promise to keep my blog updated as often as I can! ^_^

Till then, happy crafting!
