Party Like A Pirate

Ahoy Mate!

It's been quite some time since I made a box card and now that I'm putting up a blog post on my latest creation, I realized I've never enter a blog post on the box cards that I've made.

So I decided to share with you today a box card that I've just completed yesterday.  I managed to find the right props and took quite a number of pictures.  It's always a joy to take pictures of the box card because different angles of it will give me different views of and to get the right angle to feature the card in one picture can be a tricky task!

The box card was created using a box card cut file that I have in my Silhouette library.  Cutting the box is really a very easy and quick task with the Silhouette Cameo as all I need to do is get the right file, choose the right papers and a click of the mouse the Cameo does the job for me!

For the stamp set, I'm sure if you are a paper crafter you will be able to recognise immediately that this set of images are from My Favorite Things Party Like A Pirate stamp set!  I've always loved MFT stamp sets especially the ones by Birdie Brown!  They are just so cute and loads of fun to colour!

I stamped the images with Memento black tuxedo ink pad and I used my Brother ScanNcut cutting machine to have the images cut out.  Yes you heard me right, I've got the Brother ScanNcut too, as a birthday and mothers' day gift!

Like I said, it's hard to find a right angle to show the whole of the box card and so I took a couple of more pictures to show the different angles.

From this photo you can see there's a little wave that is right in front of the pirate ship.  That's a cut file I found in my Silhouette library and I thought it would be nice to just add it on to show that the boat is riding on the wave.. (well, kind of!)

And this picture shows you how the box card will look when it's being flatten to go into an envelope for easy mailing :)

Hope you  like the Party Like A Pirate box card that I've shared on my blog today.  There's been a few enquiries in the past from people and friends who are on my Instagram, asking if I would want to sell my box cards.  And recently I just realized I could have get the license for the box if I want to do so.  Well.. let's just see how things go, yeah? :)

Just one more day and the weekend is coming!  Stay calm and craft on!

Last Day

Today will be the last day that you will be able to purchase the new collection from Stacey Yacula ~ Happy Trails and Once Upon A Time at a discounted price of over 30% off.  So if you have been pondering, maybe today is just the day to make the purchase!

Just to share with you another project that I've done using the new some of the stamps from the new collection ~ Happy Trails.

The sky's THE LIMIT

I coloured the Mountain background with some light wash of watercolours and blended the grassland with a distress ink.  As the hot air balloon is the main focus of the card, I chose brighter colours from my Copic markers to give it a more vibrant look.

Another project that I've done up just a few days back is a bookmark using Once Upon A Time collection.

a new chapter awaits

For this bookmark, I used just half of the stamped image from the Book template to create the background and I also blended it with a light touch of distress ink.  I know bookmark is supposed to be flat so that it fits nicely in between the pages of the book but I just can't help but want to give it a popped up effect and so I stick on a little foam dot just to make Mia stand out in the bookmark!

I hope you like the projects that I've shared today and if you would like to see more wonderful works with the new collections, just head over to here! Last reminder! ~ today will be the last day to grab both collections at a Puple Onion Designs with discounted price of a slight more than 30% off so don't wait too long :)

See you again real soon!

Be Merry Be Jolly ~ Falalalalala!

Have you check out the new collection of stamps already?  Be sure to do so if you haven't!  Snow Day has all the adorable images you need for this Christmas season!

The complete set of Snow Day collection is currently on sale for USD90.00 till 10 November, so do take this opportunity to make the purchase as it will save you 30% from the usual price.

Sharing with you today, is a tri-fold card I made using 5 images from the Snow Day collection.  This is my first tri-fold card!

This is the front view of the tri-fold card.  The "story" unravel when the card is opened!

Stamps used: Dash (penguin on sled), Hope (bunny sledding), Jingle (penguin sliding), Flurry (snowman with gift), Snow Day! Hill (background)

For a change, I used Zig Clean Colour real brushes to colour the Dash, Hope, Jingle and Flurry.  And for the background stamp of Snow Day! Hill, it's just a light brush of watercolours from my usual watercolour palette.

The background of Snow Day! Hill is just perfect scene for Hope Jingle and Dash!  And to give the card a little "narrative' feel, I added the sentiments from Winter Wishes and Snow Flake Grove.

The background stamping was a little tricky as I need to align the hills to make it look more like a whole scene and connected, so I used Inkadinkado Stamp-A-Ma-Jig Stamp Positioner to try my best to align the lines of the hills.  All images are stamped with Archival inkpad in Jet Black.

I hope you like what I've shared today!  Please do check out more lovely creations from the Design Team at Purple Onion Designs today and be totally inspired by all the creative works!

Have a great weekend!

Snow Day!

I have great news to share and I can't wait!

The new winter /holiday collection from Stacey Yacula ~ Snow Day, is now available!

From now till 10 November the complete collection of Snow Day (22 stamps altogether) will be on a sale price of USD90.00 and that's a whopping savings of more than 30%!

To celebrate the release of the new collection, I'm sharing with you a new card I made using 4 stamps from the Snow Day!

Celebrate the Season!

Stamps used : Rupert (Fox with Snowball), Wilson (Bear with Snowball), Snow Fort, Snowballs

The sentiment ~ Celebrate the Season! is from the previous collection, Winter Wishes Sentiments set.

I have used Copic markers for Rupert, Wilson and Snowballs.  The background with Snow Fort scene was finished off with a light wash of watercolours.

For this card, I tried to keep the colours light and Christmas~y.  It was real fun and joy to colour all the new images, especially Rupert!  I had a lot of fun blending the orange tones to his fur.

I hope you like the card that I've shared today!  In fact this is the first Christmas card I made for this year!  More to come, I promise!

Please do check all the super adorable images from the new collection Snow Day from Purple Onion Designs website and blog for more inspiration and awesome creations from the Design Team.

I'll be sharing a couple of new cards using stamps from Snow Day the next few days so please do swing by if you like what to see more!

You Are So Wonderful

Happy Saturday!

Have you check out the Anniversary Sale at Purple Onion Designs already?  Be sure to take a look at the "sale" category as I have spotted a couple of versatile stamps that can be used on card for almost every occassion!

For today, I am going to share another card that I've created a couple of days back.  I'm dedicating this card to my wonderful husband for all that he has done for me and my son.  I want to thank him for giving me the privilege of being a stay-at-home-mom and letting me having the luxury of spending my time doing the things I love most!  Thank you so much <3

All these cute critters images were stamped using my favourite Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and coloured with Copic markers.  For this time round, I didn't use my Silhouette Cameo Pix Scan function to cut the images but I fussy cut them with my pair of EK tools Precision Scissors.

For the base card, I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad in cracked pistachio and with the blending tool, I gave it a soft gradient of green.

As for the sentiment, I stamped it with Versamark embossing ink, sprinkled some white embossing powder over and heat set it.

To make the card a little more fun, I added a sweet ribbon banner from Memory Box banner parade die set.

I hope you like what I've shared today.  Please do visit Purple Onion Designs for more inspirations and take a look at the very pretty and amazing projects from the DT.

Have a great weekend and happy crafting!

Wish You Were Here

Yay!  It's Friday!

Are you looking forward to the weekend?  I am!  It's going to be a very busy one for me as it's the beginning of the mid year school holiday for my 10 year old, there will be the usual enrichment lessons and I have to try to organise play dates and other activities to keep him busy!

Today, I'll be sharing another card I made using the new Garden Blooms collection from Purple Onion Designs by Stacey Yacula.  To show the versatility of the collection, I used some of the new stamps with one of my favourite from the existing stamps that I have.

And here it is.

Wish You Were Here!

What I loved about the Garden Blooms collection is that there are many background stamps that allows you to create different themes and different scenarios for the cards.

For this card, I stamped the images with Ranger Archival ink pad with the colour Jet Black on Strathmore Watercolour paper and coloured the images with my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers. For the soft colours for the background, I diluted my watercolours with quite a bit water and delicately I brush it across to give it a light tint of colours.

I always feel that a card is never complete without adding some sentiments to it.  And with the sentiment "Wish You Were Here" from Sweet Summer sentiment set just makes it perfect.  Chloe misses her friends while enjoying the summer breeze in the garden and she's keeping the flower in her hand just for her favourite pal!

I hope you like the card that I've shared today.  The whole Garden Blooms collection will be available for a discounted price of USD90.00 till 30 May so remember to head over to Purple Onion Designs and take a look.

That's all for now.  Wishing all a great weekend!  Happy colouring!

Elliot Says Thank You

Have you check out the new Garden Blooms collection?  If not, please head over to Purple Onion Designs blog and website now to take a look a the adorable set!  The entire collection is now available for USD90.00 till 30 May, don't wait too long if you are thinking of getting the stamps!

As promised in the last post to share more of my cards using stamps from the new collection, here is a Thank You card I made using Elliot, from the new Garden Blooms collection, together with the banner from the sweet offerings set from my existing collection of stamps from Purple Onion Designs.

Elliot is such an adorable image and I really find it easy to adapt to any other stamps that I have.

Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig from EK Tools, I positioned and stamped the image the Elliot right on top of the banner and used my Copic markers to colour the whole image.  Then I fussy cut the whole image.

I die cut the stitched circle and blended in some distress colour, Tumbled Glass, to give it a a gradient of light blue.

As the card hasn't got much of stamped images, I decided to add a some other details to give it a more interesting look.  The die cut little stitched leaves are from a leaves die cut set from Lawn Fawn.  I coloured them with my Copic markers and attached them to the some twine to be attached to the card.

That's all for today, I hope you like this Thank You card that I've shared with you today.  Have a great weekend and keep on stampin'!

I've always loved Stacey Yacula's stamps collection and I'm very fortunate to be able to create a few new cards for this new collection.  The critters images in this new collection are totally adorable (just like all the critters in all her collections!) and they are very versatile to be incorporated in the past collections to create new cards/tags/projects.

And to celebrate the new release of the stamp set, I share with you a card that I've create using 2 of the images from the Garden Blooms.

Here is Riley Sending Sun~filled wishes.

I really had a fun time colouring the Veggie Garden and having Riley to hold the shovel having a fun time waiting for harvest in the garden!

To add more fun to the card, I've used some die cuts from Sizzix Triplits Die Set 13PK - Hello Sunshine.

The finishing touch ~  the cute watering can from Garden Set No.1.  I really love the watering can!

If you haven't notice, the sentiment is from the past collection ~ Sweet Summer sentiment set.  Like we have mentioned earlier, Garden Blooms is a versatile stamp set that you can use it for almost all occasions!

For the next few days, I'll be sharing other new cards and projects that I've created using Garden Blooms. Be sure to check back (:  Meanwhile I hope you will be inspired with the cards/projects by the rest of the members of the Design Team at Purple Onion Designs!

Stay calm and keep stamping!

So sorry

Sorry for the long absence!

The holiday seasons were quite hectic for me as we had to travel to two countries in December and then my son was down with a bad flu right after our trip from Gold Coast Australia.  And after he got better, it was my turn to be down.

I stopped crafting right after Christmas as my hubby and I had made plans to relocate my crafting area and reshuffle our rooms.  And now I've got a bigger, tidier and prettier crafting table and space!

As I promised to share the Christmas cards and projects I've made, in my earlier post (sorry I know Christmas is way over!) well, it's better to be late than never.  So here they are!

If you have notice, all the above projects were made with Purple Onion Designs stamps, particularly from Stacey Yacula's collection, I simply love her illustrations! And I was so happy when Purple Onion Designs approached me and gave me the opportunity to join the Christmas design team!  It's such a bonus and an honor to be able to use the new collection of Snowflake Grove stamps on top of the existing stamps to create cards, project and ornaments for Christmas!

I really had a fun time creating projects and cards with all the stamps from Purple Onion Designs and it really made my Christmas a little more special!

Hope you had a fun-filled holiday as I did! (minus the flu episode!) Please do check back soon as I promise to keep my blog updated as often as I can! ^_^

Till then, happy crafting!

Fall for Chloe

Happy Sunday!  It's been a good week and I've been quite productive!

Today I want to share with you a card that I've made for the Tiddly Inks challenge #168.  The theme for this round's challenge is Fall colours.

For all the Tiddly Inks challenges, I've always been using Wryn's images for the entries as she's just so fun to colour with.  But then other than Wryn, I also love one of the other images from Tiddly Inks.

May I present to you Chloe Darkwing in fall colours!

The unruly hair and the lovely smile just make Chloe such a endearing image to colour! She seems to be always looking for adventures and fun stuff to do!

As usual, I coloured Chloe with my Copic markers and I specially picked out the fall colours of browns, greens and dark red.  They are not my usual choices of colours for images as I prefer brighter and lighter tones of blues and reds.  But I'm quite happy how Chloe turned out!

To make her look extra special, I used my Sihouette Cameo to cut a wreath in brown and added a few layers of  greens leave and some berries lookalike embellishments to give it a more interesting look.

Lastly, I finished off with an short and sweet sentiment "Many Thanks" from the Lawn Fawn Happy Harvest clear stamp set and also the banner that is found in Bannerific clear stamp set.

I though the sentiment with the banner looks a little plain and wanted to add a little more details like a coloured pumpkin or some other embellishments to it but after some thinking, I decided to keep it simple so that the focus can be solely on Chloe and the wreath.

Alright, that's all for now.  I hope you will fall for Chloe as much as I do!  I think she's pretty cute!

Have a great Sunday and a crafty week ahead!

Just Treats

It's been awhile since my last entry on my blog, more than a month!  Where did I go?!

Well, let's just say that I got a little lazy with my blog and all the activities were at my Instagram account.  Somehow posting at Instagram is a lot easier, faster and fuss free!

Ok let's get to the point!

Today I'm sharing with you a Halloween card I made :)  And here it is!

Hallo Bean from The Greeting Farm is way too fun to colour!  She's just so cute and with the little kitty that comes with the digital image, who can say no?!

We don't usually celebrate Halloween in Singapore.  Well, maybe for the younger peeps they do (I'm in my forties!) and I don't usually make Halloween cards.  But then Hallo Bean is way too cute and I just had to make a card with her!

As Hallo Bean is a digital image, I printed it out with my Epson printer and then have her cut out nicely with my Silhouette Cameo.  With the Silhouette Cameo it's really a breeze cutting the digital images.  No more fussy cutting!  Yay!

Because I've never made any Halloween cards, I went on to Pinterest and Instagram to check out some handmade Halloween cards to get some inspirations.  It seems the standard colours are black, grey, orange and purple.  They are not my favourite colours but then it's Halloween!  So let's play along!

Coincidentally, right after I completed my card I found out that colour combos for The Greeting Farm's Farm Fresh Challenge for October are (drum roll please!) :

Black, Orange and Purple!

Hey!  My first Halloween card qualifies for it!

Here is a close up look of the card.  Hallo Bean is such a sweetie and so I chose and cut out the phrase "No Tricks Just Treats" from the Silhouette design studio to go along with the card.  Just the way how I feel about Hallo Bean as she's all nice and sweet, no funny tricks up her sleeves!

I didn't want to use too dark colours on her as I want her to look fresh and nice so I stay on the safe side and used mostly the lighter tones.

And then to spice things up a little, I die cut a border from Bo Bunny elegant border die with some purple card stock and added it onto the card.

I hope you like my first Halloween Card!  Thanks for coming by!  Let's hope I won't get lazy again and my next blog entry will be just a few days away ;)

Batty In Love For CASology Week 157

Time flies and before I know it, it's Thursday.

There's so many things to do but so little time!  And my mind is constantly on card making and the pile of new stamps on my craft table!  Bad. Very bad. Ok let's forget about the chores for now, shall we?

Today, I'm sharing with you the card I made for CASology Week 157 cue card ~ Wings.

And here is the card that I've made ~ Batty In Love (:  Yes!  Bats have wings!

This cute bat is from the stamp set Falling for You from Paper Smooches.  It's my first take on CASology challenge and following the helpful hints on the blog, I'm keeping the card as clean and as simple as possible.

And in case if you are not aware, bats are the only mammals that can fly. Instead of arms or hands, they have wings. The wings have a bone structure similar to the human hand.

I coloured Batty with my Copic markers and added some glossy accent to his eyes to make it look a little more "alive" and googly, just for a bit of extra fun.  And for the first time, I managed to finally put my twine to good use.  Maybe it's just me, I always find it hard to make twines look pretty on my card.

That's all for now, I hope you love Batty (:  Got to run!  Be happy and craft on!

CMCC#81 - Colour Me... Playful!

It's the beginning of a new week again!  And today is an off-in-lieu for Youth day for the kids and we have planned to visit the Universal Studio with my little dude.

And this morning I've planned to wake up a little earlier than the boys so that I could have a bit of time to take some snap shots of the card I've completed yesterday night.  I'm actually very excited about this card as it's for the challenge at Colour me...!

This week's colours are very interesting.  At one glance, they reminded me of Neapolitan cakes and ice cream and then gradually I started to think of macarons with flavours of framboise, green tea, cassis and vanilla.  Ahhhh.... macarons.  How good it will be if they aren't laden with so much calories!

These macarons stamped images were from Avery Elle ~ Bonjour.  Instead of using my favourite Copic markers to colour them, I decided to play with my watercolours.

I like the way they turned out and I ended up with lots of macarons (:

It was totally fun creating this macaron card!  Totally calories free!  And I also added a stamped frame from Taylored Expression From Me to You stamp and die set, and complete the card with the "Merci Beaucoup" sentiment that comes together with the Avery Elle Bonjour stamp set.

Right after I took the pictures, I popped one of the Fleur de Sel macaron that I bought from Antionette right into my mouth, and it tasted so good.  What is life without a bit of indulgence once in awhile, right? *wink*!

So let's keep calm, eat macarons and craft on!

Colour Me Subtle CMCC#80

Did you have fun yesterday?

I did! (:  I spent half of my morning working on a card and then back again after lunch.  And I had a good break after, went rollerblading with my 9 year old little man and my hubby.

And since I planned to do a card, I must well join another card challenge ya?! ;)  So I've decided to head over to About Colour Me...! card challenge blog to join in the fun!  My local crafty friend Ren from Ink A Paper who happens to be on the Design Team did mentioned to me about Colour Me...!  Challenge before but I thought I might not be creative enough for the challenges.

But never mind, I'll give it a try!  Never say "die"!  Haha!  That's a local Singapore slag, meaning we will not give up trying!

So the colours for this week's challenge.... *drum roll*!!!!!

This week's colours are : Watermelon Wonder, Pear Pizzazz & Soft Sky.

Quite fun colours I would say!

And I started to think of soft skies with rolling clouds.  This came up to my mind!  I saw this technique in a post at Pinterest and I am totally blown away!  Soft rolling clouds... maybe just the right type of background for the card?  Here's the link to the blog that I learned the technique from.

Then the colour of watermelon, and I came up with this.

And finally the card is done!

I hope it meets all the requirement and the colours are fine! *keeping fingers and toes crossed!*  Now I realized it's really fun joining card challenges, it sets the boundaries and make me think twice about planning on the colours and structure of the card.  I'm looking out for more challenges to put my creativity to the test!

Ok that's all for now.  Wishing everyone a great weekend!  And.... Stay calm and craft on!

MFT Sketch Challenge #237

Today I'm sharing with you a birthday card I made for my sister who is turning 45 tomorrow!  I'm really excited because this is also the card that I will be submitting for the My Favorite Thing Card Challenges

It's my first time joining in the fun for the challenge and here the sketch for this week.

It seems like it's just such an ideal layout for a nice birthday card (:   And because it's my first time joining in the challenge, I read the rules and regulations a couple of times just to be sure that I'm doing the right thing.  My Favorite Thing Card Challenges website says if I were to use MFT stamps and/or dies in your project, I’ll receive an extra $5.  Cool!

So here is my card!

I've always loved most of the Birdie Brown series of stamps from MFT and I've been waiting for the chance to colour up Birdie Brown Sweet Birthday Wishes for a long time.  Some how I'm always been distracted by other new stamps!

I coloured her with my Copic markers with my favourite skin tone colours E50, E51 and E53.  For the hair I used E42, E43 and E44.  For the cupcake, I couldn't quite recall as I have yet to cultivate the habit of recording the colours I've used!

As for the other components of the card, the cute banner on the top of the card is from La-La Land Crafts.  The "Happy Birthday" is cut out from my Silhouette Cameo.  That's about it.

It was really fun constructing the card and I can't wait to see what the next sketch will be for the next MFT Card Challenge!

Happy crafting!

P.S. ~ Raluca, if you are reading this, yes I've included a "following" button on my blog, just as what you have suggested!  Thanks again for giving me the tip! *kisses!*

My First Post

This is my first post on my paper craft blog, Yay!

I was previously just sharing my handmade cards on my Instagram  (@sugarbea) and a couple of fellow crafters have asked me to take part in some card making challenges.  I realized most of the pictures of people's work will usually link it back to their blog.  I think it's going to fun to make cards and at the same time have a bit of fun with the challenges AND have a blog too!

So here goes!

Today I'm sharing a card-in-a-box I made this morning.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the box, the gloomy looking cloud and the cute pair of rain boots.  And then I added in Ducky Dance Wryn from Tiddlyinks.  The round sentiment is from a rubber stamp set from CC Design Stamps.

I love the digital and clear stamp images from Tiddlyinks as Wryn is just so fun to colour with the Copic markers!  And I'm also going to use this card to enter into #Challenge 161- Anything Goes at Tiddlyinks Challenge Blog.  Hugs and kisses to Raluca Vezeteu (@RALUCAVEZETEU) for liking my card and posted a comment on my Instagram post letting me know about this challenge.

Happy crafting everyone! ^_^
